I'm from New York and was hoping to get into McGill's engineering undergraduate program.
For the most part I am qualified with last year's minimum:
have a 33 ACT (minimum 26)
2010 SAT 1 (minimum 1830 for engineering)
680 Math 1 (minimum 570)
730 Math 2 (minimum 540)
expecting 700+ on Physics SATII (minimum 580)
my overall GPA is an A-, my average math score is an A-, and I got an A in Physics

however, in Honors Chemistry I only got a B- and the minimum is listed as a B+

does anyone know if it is still possible for me to get in with this one category below the minimum?

A single B- shouldn't cause a problem, at least in theory. That "minimum B+" you mentioned is for overall GPA isn't it, not minimum Honors Chem score (they shouldn't have such specific requirements)?

I didn't think they would have had requirements per class, but then I saw this:
Admissions standards for previous years

and it says "B+ average in last three years; B+ in each math, Chemistry, Physics"

OK, I see. It might cause issues if you want to be admitted into the engineering faculty directly. You should contact the admissions people to make sure (they might still overlook one B- if your other grades are really good). Otherwise, you should be able to apply to another faculty and then possibly transfer after a couple of semesters or something (transferring from one faculty to another also has requirements).

It's just 1 course, you shouldn't have problem getting in. From what I see your SAT grades are great as well as your average GPA. Trust me you will be fine.

I think that you will be fine...I know people with much lower stats getting in. An A- average (I'm thinking about 3.7?) is really good - surely enough.
