| ya know, looking though that stuff, mine shows the same as yours.
The one I listed in my previous post was from USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service) (postal service).
Gee. Dunno. maybe it makes little difference. Post office guys are probably wondering why we parents can't get our acts together
I'm just glad they get there, quick. |

Don't like the sound of what's going on there. Do we have any Mids still at sea? |

| There are ALWAYS mids at sea. I read the report on this, it sounded just like what my son described when he went through it: civilian ships swarmed by small boats. It drove him nuts, and then the boat guys want to board the ships to sell stuff. The Panama is not like that. He goes through the Panama frequently now but only went through the Suez once during Sea Year--his ship did go through the Suez in the fall but he had already gotten off. It's pretty scary through that it's claimed that someone was killed, hopefully it won't provoke and international incident. |

| I believe the 2010 B splits are out now. The 2011 B leave in June. It's totally confusing who's out when, but I just remember that B = Before A and our 2011 A's leave end of October 08. |

| 2010 B split is a sea until next november. My sons ship passed thru the suez last fall. He described the Egyptians who came on board to sell their goods. My sons ship was not a MSC ship, just a simple tramp. |

| Inexpensive shipping via FedEx I was very surprised recently at how inexpensive FedEx Ground is to send packages to KP. I sent an 18-pound box for $11, and a smaller box for around $5. From Richmond VA, it gets there in 2 days, and has even made it overnight! I suspect that because KP is so close to LaGuardia, the FedEx packages are delivered quickly. When I sent a large, heavy box last fall, UPS wanted over $130, and FedEx was under $40. Check out this site to compare the 5 major shippers' costs: Compare Shipping Rates |

| Thanks MrsT.
How do you address the packages when FedEx delivers them. I'd heard that the kid has to come up and sign for it, and it's difficult to schedule (Or that the kid would have to go to a different place to get the package).
Enlighten us on addressing and how/where the kid gets the package. Thanks. |

| Zonk -
I suppose if you check the "recipient must sign" (or something like that) box on the FedEx air bill, they would have to sign for it in person, but it should process to them just like a USPS box and they would get a notice in their Academy mail box. As you said, be sure not to put PO Box number, just use Box number. I just use the address format that you suggested in your previous post.
Also, I think (not sure in all cases) that stores that specialize in all kinds of shipping services like "Mail Boxes, Etc", will charge a premium to handle your package. Go to a dedicated FedEx facility like FedEx Kinko's and you will pay the flat rate with no add-ons.
You can start an account on the FedEx website, print out the pre-paid air bill, and just drop it off, then get billed for the charges later.
I'd love to know how this works when shipping from farther away - anyone? |

| When it's a small box they pick it up at the mail window by the boxes on zero deck. A larger box is down by the waterfront area (can't remember the building). |

| the building is GSK....general store keeper or something like that
the 2009A splits are nearing the end of their sea years. A teammate of mine who didn't play this year was on the ship in the Suez at the time of the incident. haven't spoken with him personally however. |

The U.S. Navy expressed regret Wednesday that an Egyptian citizen was killed when a navy-contracted ship fired warning shots at approaching motor boats in the Suez Canal.

| Our Midshipmen & women, 2011 B/Split leave for their 1st trip in June. Any tips, suggestions, gifts (gave DS the Great Spyderco* after indoc), words of encouragement, etc. before they leave??
We plan on visiting our DS on Memorial day weekend (hotels filling fast!!)
Is this the only chance we get to see him off before departure, i.e. no days off in June between exams & departure?
Hoping our DS ships out of Long Beach or San Diego, is there a chance?
If I missed a cc thread addressing this, please enlighten me..Thanks!
*Thanks Colorado Parents for the Great knife!! |

| Make sure he has decent digital camera. He will be seeing things he may never get the chance to see again. We also bought the boy a pair of binoculars with a digital camera built into them. Don't know if they ever got used. |
