Does it even matter?

seriously,
who really cares, Annapolis or Kings Point.
both are great schools that produce fine officers. either way you go, you're pretty much set for life. no need to say which is better or which is worse. it doesn't matter.

I do. You should. Someone could make a life career decision based on this misinformation. No one should allow the misleading better chance of being a pilot by attending USMMA to enter into their decision-making process.

USNA69....you really don't know the whole story, so your caustic comments are not appreciated. Everyone here knows your slant, so unless the question about Annapolis or KP comes up, please keep your opinions on the NA discussion board. The young man who asked the question has already accepted his appointment to USMMA...this has nothing to do with a life decision; he was merely asking a question about Kings Point, not the Naval Academy.

And I ask members of the USMMA forum to discontinue making false comparisons to the flight school probability between USNA and USMMA. When this happens, it then does, in fact, become my concern. And correct me if I am wrong, but the last few previous posts did comment on USNA.

Please point out where I was being caustic.

how does it become your concern?
are you on the administrative staff of Annapolis? why are you so fervent about this? it really doesn't make any sense. we all know that Annapolis produces a lot of pilots.

and once again, why should i care? their life-long career decisions are basically made anyways if they're looking at either school. you'll serve the US for the standard time, or more if you so choose. the avenue you take to get there is secondary. if you want to be a navy pilot, you can do it from either school, if you want to be marine corps infantry, you can do it from either school, etc..
bottom line is that it doesn't make any difference at all! they're both great schools with great opportunities for their graduates. and besides, after 5 years service from either school, you can go do whatever you want.

please stop trying to prove that USNA is better, we hear that from many people all the time. those of us AT kings point really don't care, most of us wouldn't go there now that we've seen what great things our school has to offer, and as such your argument is, more-or-less, falling on deaf ears as we've heard your claims and seen how in the past you've done nothing but push the readers on here further and further away from wanting to listen to you.

tis a crying shame...

Please read my posts before you comment. It has to be my concern since misleading and incorrect statements are being made concerning pilot training opportunities.

Actually, as a BGO, I am considered to be on the admissions staff.

I could not care less what current or past students at KP think. My goal is that no prospective candidate wanting to be a Naval Aviator enter this website and be led astray by false information. Yes, it is 'a crying shame' that some would forego this to protect their fragile egos.

sir,
i have read your posts, and all i've seen is it make people upset.
i have no beef with you, i want to make that known. however, i am a bit irritated at the selective (meaning not including the entire word) quotations of my statements. the falsehood that you're claiming is more than slightly embellished. the way that statement was intended was to say that there's less competition per slot here, as not all people want to fly for the Navy, some do coast guard, some do army, etc... or many people don't want to fly at all.

we appreciate you wanting to make the facts known. that's always welcome. however, the way you go about it seems to undermine your intentions. and besides, at this point in the year, most have already turned in their acceptance of their appointments, so there's no need to continue this.

sir, i wish you the very best, as well as the very best for your Annapolis candidates, Mids, Alum, etc... even though i'm not at USNA, i'm still a Mid, and in the end, we're all on the same team, let's try not to forget that.

Your personal observations ?

I guess you are saying that your classmates that have an interest in an aviation career have been able to follow that path. In either the Navy,AF, CG, or Army. That what it seems to me you are implying is2day4him

it is what i'm implying.
the main factor that drops people's interest (aside from eye sight problems, etc...) is when they go out to sea. i've seen a lot of kids that thought they wanted to fly change their minds and decide to sail. i'm not saying that if you want to fly you're a shoo-in, what i'm saying is that if you want it and work hard to get it, you can. you have to do well in school to be competitive, but that's up to you.

the best way to help your case is to do a flight internship. those get your name out into the aviation circles, and it looks good on an application. if you want it, go for it. just be prepared to change your mind a few times. even if you want to fly at the end of it all, for your own sake, consider every option. there's sooo many great things you can do when you're done with this place, there's no need to box yourself in too early.
good luck

I am a KP grad and a Captain in the United States Navy and can with considerable experience state that Annapolis produces better naval officers than Kings point. I have been extraordinarily disappointed the the quality of Ensigns Kings Point has turned out in the past 5 years. There is a serious problem at Kings Point in the leadership department and it started with Art Athens! Absentee Commandant! Bob Allee has been cleaning up his mess for three years now and has had it with the lack of support form Stewart.

So, Oliver...you're a KP grad AND a Navy Captain? Do you fall within the ranks of being a poor naval officer as well?
