What is a competitive GPA and SAT scores for the academy?

What is a competitive GPA and SAT scores for the academy? I would also like to know what else looks good on my application.

I did not play any sports like football but i was in many competitive teams in my JROTC program. I have a 3.1 GPA and a 1200 on my Math & Reading SAT scores combined. I am an eagle scout and have won many awards in my JROTC program for leadership and drill. I will include many of my other activities on my application. But how does this look so far? My worries are with my GPA and the fact i did not play any high school sports. What do you think? Would it also help to include the fact that my grandfather was in the merchant marine for most of his life and that my uncle was a Chief Petty Officer in the navy SEALs?

I would like any advice you can give me.

GPA does not tell them much. From state to state or between school districts the GPA can be calculated differently making a comparison difficult (e.g. many schools give higher points for honors or AP courses, so they are using a 5 or 6 point scale rather than a 4 point scale). The key metric they are looking for is your class rank - this tells them how you performed academically against your peers. When they look at your transcripts they will look for improving performance and increasing curriculum difficulty from your freshman through your senior years. They want to see strong grades and hard classes in the core courses (math, science, english) each year - no slacking off your senior year. Also, take the ACT - you may do better on that one. A 1200 SAT or 28 ACT is about average.
