Kings point dinghy team

Is there anyone who is concerned with the state of the KP sailing team? It seems that the team is now almost non-existent. The team has dwindled in numbers and there is little participation in regatta's What a shame for a school with first class facilities and rich heritage of collegiate sailing.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With all of the financial issues and leadership transition, I'm afraid this has been put on the back burner. A darn shame.

It sounds like it takes a long time to rebuild a house that has burnt down. I hope they get the dinghy team up and rowing soon.

Support Mom,

Just to let you know, the dinghy team is the sailing team. They sail small sailboats. I'm not sure, though, why they call it the dinghy team since, like you, most people think dinghies are row boats.

Also, the crew (rowing) team is doing well inspite of the fire 1 1/2 years ago. They placed 7th overall in a regatta last weekend.

open house

While i was at the open house i spoke with the coach of the dinghy team. He said that if there was any interest in the team they would teach you how to sail with little or no experiance. I am interested on the dinghy team. I tought sail at my camp (on sunfish and phantoms) and have always been interested in racing but never had the time because of summer camp. The coach was very open and willing to teach anyone who wanted to join the team.

I am going to be attending kingspoint this July and i want to join the offshore sailing team. When I went to the open house i talked to one of the coaches(short guy with an accent) and he got my email. Should I contact the academy before hand or wait untill i get there.

Also if i am interested in joining the rugby team should i bring my cleats?

Glen66 ~ didn't want your questions to go answered, although I was hoping for a more qualified answer from a current Mid.

My understanding is that you can wait until you get up there to join offshore. There will be a Waterfront Barbecue the evening before Indoc. I highly recommend you attend this. Make sure you get an invite by calling and getting your name on the list.

I don't know anything about Rugby, but my guess would be "yes" you should bring your cleats.

GOOD LUCK!
