Math

Does anyone have any websites or have any suggestions for preparing for the math test they give you when you arrive?

Believe it or not, don't try to do too well on the test. There are 3 options for Math first tri - College math, Calc 1 (3 days a week) or Calc 1 (4 days a week). A very few go directly into Calc 2. If you test into a higher level math, but just by the skin of your teeth, you will be underwater pretty quickly. If you have a choice, do the easier schedule. You will have a better chance of passing, although College math may mean summer school to catch up the next summer. Remember, the goal here is to pass everything, not look like a hero. Forget your ego and ask for help in any subject ASAP. Do not wait for the mid term to seek out help - it's probably too late by then, especially math and physics, which build on themselves. This is not liberal arts!

That is awful advice. Do your best and you will be placed accordingly.

I'm just looking to freshen up on my math because I took statistics this year and precalc last year. I don't want to fall into the high school math class where I have to do summer school, that's something I'd like to try and avoid.

My son did the same JCam. He took stats instead of Calc in high school. He did fine on the pretest and did not even look at a book. Ended up in Calc 1, which is the one you most likely will end up in. Just do you best and don't worry about it.

that truly is the worst thing you could do. don't set yourself up for summer school unless it was the VERY BEST you can do. NEVER sell yourself short here. there will be plenty of opportunities to get help if you struggle. this place isn't easy no matter how you slice it. don't make it a tougher experience by doing summer school if you don't have to.
