Honors: Who here has read When Germs Travel

Do we really have to read it? Is it any good? I got through about 50 pages of it, and it's okay, but I honestly would rather not continue.

I read about 10 pages and then got on w/ the rest of my summer.

I'll probably skim it the night before that seminar/lecture thing.

I just started it today actually. I'll probably finish it, if not today maybe on the way up. It's pretty short.

Now, has anyone actually read The Elements of Style? Hoping I'm not the only one who hasn't touched it.

lol samwise. I forgot all about that. It's probably there just to help us with our writing (grammar, usage, diction, etc). I have another style book called the Business Style Handbook, and it's pretty good. But since we're actually discussing the Germs book, I thought maybe we should at least give it a try.

Honestly just read the ones we're going to discuss, i think it's the intro and chapters 2, 5, 6, and 7. the one on the typhus riots is rather slow but some of the other ones are interesting. somehow i picked up this ages old copy of the elements nof style from my school's newspaper room so i actually have read it. it's useful but hopefully you've already leanred that stuff w any decent 12th grade english teacher, lol.

I'm a second year honors student and I can tell you right now that you will not be using Elements of Style in any shape or form. Don't bother reading the honors reading, just have something interesting to say about the topic of the book :-)
