Great Books 191

does cameron grade the essays, or does each individual GSI grade their own section's student's essays?

are essays evaluated toughly, ripped apart viciously, etc...?

is there a course site for great books 191 fall 2005?

I'm sure the TA's grade, because there are hundreds of people in the lecture.

took gb 191 last year, cameron doesn't grade anything (too busy researching spiders), grading really depends on which GSI you have, some are really laid-back and nice, while others expect graduate-level writing.

calloftheblade, do you know any of the names of the better GSI's? How was yours?

Also, what is the typical day like for a discussion class? So far I had the notion that it was like a high school class (small size, more involvement, etc.) What exactly happens during these classes?

You definitely want Ulrike Nichols (might be misspelled), she definitely cares about the students and leads fun, interesting discussions.
