Doing Well Once You're Here

A little about myself: I'm a freshman, and came from an excellent HS record academically. I had mostly A's heading out of HS, and was ready to take on UMich, but it has proven much more difficult than I've expected. Now, i'm not doing REALLY bad or anything, but I'm not doing well enough to be competitive into med school, which is my end goal. I've been getting mostly B's here, which again isn't TERRIBLE, but i know i'm better than this.

So to my question: What should I be doing to do well academically? I try my best to balance academics with being social, but it apparently isn't working out.

Hah, surprisingly no responses. But here's an update to my story.

Basically this semester was much, much better for me. I've gotten mostly A's, and at umich, that's quite something to be proud of.

So what's the big secret? Nothing, I guess. Just pure hard work. Putting in the long hours and getting help (office hours, study groups, etc) when needed is all it takes. I should have known as much, but I tend to stress out easy over things, so I might have been over reacting. Live and Learn :]

Not nearly as many people are going to view this here vs. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-life/ . You should try posting it there since I doubt the advice is going to be school specific.

I don't know how to help you though.
