Senior Admissions Fellows Blog & Others

Stumbled upon this today:

Senior Admissions Fellows A glimpse into the life of a Middlebury College senior

Quote:
Peter, Kelly, Cassidy, Hannah, Raina, Sasha, Leslie, Jean, Katie, Andrew, Dave and Mike (Adcom Fellows) will take turns adding to this blog, providing our prospective students, their families, and any others interested with a glimpse into the daily life of a Middlebury College senior–a senior privy to some of the inner workings of the Admissions Office!

So read, enjoy, explore, imagine–and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
As long as they keep up with the process, this has the ability to be a great PR tool for prospective students. From the looks of it, all of the fellows have varying interests and while they are all seniors, they are in a unique position to comment on a process they hopefully haven't long forgotten. Of course, seniors tend to be very busy with their own grad school/job search process, so it will take effort and enthusiasm (and some humor) to keep it from getting stale.

As it is with many colleges in general, Ron Liebowitz (prez) and Dean Spiers also have a blog, (not to mention Midd-Blog MiddBlog) which all do a pretty good job of offering insight into what's happening in the area, in education and on campus. I don't see many entries from "Ron" but I'll give him a slight pass and assume he's really busy trying to appease a host of different constituencies in lots of varying venues - least of all his young family!

Also, the online version of the Campus (School Paper HOME | The Middlebury Campus) now has a Gallery page with uploaded video and a series called Freshman follow.

Anyway.. I know there are also all kinds of twitter and facebook connections as well. Point is, there are so many avenues for kids and their parents to research the College that the "fit" question is a heck of a lot easier to answer than it used to be. At the same time, nothing speaks louder than a personal visit for both students and parents. While getting in is always a question for everyone, the decision to apply is, I would think, easier than ever before.
