Please chance me? Organized!

Thanks! I'm a junior at a pretty good private school. I want to major in theatre.

(also applying Brown, Northwestern, Vassar, etc.)

SATs: 2360
ACT: Haven't taken it, but I'm guessing a 34, 35
School doesn't rank, but I'd be top 5%
APs: Soph: English Lang (5), Junior: English Lit(5 predicted), Chemistry(4 or 5 predicted), European History(5 predicted), Senior: AP French Lang, AP USH, AP Biology, AP Calculus
GPA: UW Freshman- 3.8, Sophomore-4.0, Junior-4.0, Senior-3.9(predicted)
W Freshman-3.8, Sophomore-4.0, J/S- something quite a bit over 4
Awards: Freshman: top student French I, Adv. English II
Sophomore(my soph-sen school doesn't give top student awards): Top writer in History class
Math team: 6th place regionally
I've been a year advanced in English since freshman year.
Likely some sort of AP Scholar
Likely National Merit Finalist
Probably several book awards
State awards in speech team- been doing speech and winning awards since 5th
grade
Likely debate awards

Extracurriculars:
Speech team 5-10th grade, debate team 11-12th grade
Varsity cross country, track 9th grade, varsity field hockey 10th grade
Had to discontinue sports in 11th grade to take up theatre program
twice weekly classes, lots of rehearsal, will probably have completed 7 shows
by graduation
School plays/musicals 6th-10th grade
about 100 hours volunteer work from various sources (this looks bad, I know)
Weekly voice lessons from 9th-12th grade with daily practice
Math Team- not a huge commitment, but still difficult to be chosen for

Essays: They will be really good. My writing is very strong
Recommendations: Probably glowing. My last parent/teacher conference was apparently pretty fawning.
Summer programs: 3 week academic programs since 4th grade, selected for the very-tough-to-get-into Governor's School for the Arts. Will probably be accepted into the Governor's Scholar program this summer- also very tough to get into.
Possible for this summer: internship with local magazine, literary magazine, lengthy theatre summer program, or Governor's Scholar academic program.

POTENTIAL Gap Year program- City Year. 1300+ hours, one year with underprivileged children in a city. But I will probably have to be accepted first and then defer enrollment, but I'll see if I can't announce my intentions on my application. That should help.

Just once I'd love to see someone say.. My essays are going to suck.

You are a junior. Work hard this year.. very hard. Get great grades. Stay in your EC's and dont fall under the spell of senioritis next year.

Good luck to you.

Looks pretty good, but with Middlebury it's always a crap-shoot.

As much as it pains me to say it, if I were you (interested in theater), I'd look at Williams. I believe they have a really strong program in theater (although Middlebury DOES have some great connections). I believe quite a few Wesleyan grads have gone on to do big things in theater (movies) as well.

Williams is also on my list Thanks.

And to others- you're right, of course, but I just wanted to check for ballpark.

You look very strong for Middlebury or Williams. Good luck and work hard, but have fun your senior year.

I suggest you visit both schools, and also try to stay overnight next fall..
