Prep School

I have very recently recieved an Association of Graduates' West Point Preparatory Scholarship. I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or opinions about following that path. Also, if anyone else is attending a prep school, where? I'm pretty much set on Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL.

My DS also received the civil prep offer. He listed Marion Military as his first choice. In my opinion it's an incredible opportunity. As long as you do well in the junior military college, As and Bs, maintain physical and medical qualification, and obtain a nomination you will be appointed to WP the following year. If you are not already familiar with service academy forums.com you might want to check out that site. There is a wealth of info there. I learned about them from this forum a few years and it is a very active forum. Best of luck.

Check out the prep school in Texas, Greystone. It's on the campus of Schreiner University. We had the son of some dear friends attend Greystone last year and the boy is doing very well at West Point this year. He's told his folks a lot of what he learned out at Greystone has helped him so much with the West Point program.
Good Luck!

"Civil Prep"

My son was sponsored by AOG as a 'civil prep" .. I think they still call it that... But it is the same program. We have some involvment with the "Field Force" for West Point.

MY son attended NMMI and it was a great experience and prepared him well for west point.

As a parent when he was offered this I was concerned it wasnt a "real offer" we just didn't have all the info at the time. Now after his graduation, 2 yers in Army, President of our Parent club and continued participant with WEst Point Society Know this ....

What you have is an offer to attend West Point ! Congratulations!

You will meet peopel who don't know or understand -- dont worry about those people ... Anyone "in the know" when you say I am attending Marion ( or NMMI ) as an AOG prep will know and understand.

The numbers may be different now but a few years ago 30% of West Point cadets had een somewhere else first -prep, usmaps, prior enlisted, other colleges

Thanks! I'm extremely excited and from what I've heard Prep school will make it a lot easier on me my first year, plus it will help me get used to living the military life. They do still call us AOG's so your lingo is correct.
