socks/underwear/sports bras

In several posts we've been advised to bring extra socks/underwear/sports bras... are there any regulations on those, or can we bring whatever type we want? I seem to remember someone saying that socks have to be white and long. In our instruction book it says that bras can be white or beige. What about underwear? Are there color regulations, and do they have to be the brief type? Basically I just want to know what to look for when buying stuff so that it won't be taken away when I get to WP.

Thanks!

Can't speak for the women but, according to our son, the men must wear the issued white briefs underwear (or go commando as my "boxers or nothing" son chose) and socks during CBT. One of the big "freedoms" after CBT is that cadets get to choose the style and color of their underwear. After CBT the socks still need to be white or black, but you can wear non-issued socks.

His company did allow the new cadets to wear black liner socks, something he highly recommends for the marches - especially when your feet and boots are wet.

A caveat to my comments. The rules and their enforcement/interpretation at USMA differ by the cadet's company.
