I am not going to claim to be an expert - never attended USMA or VMI nor was I in the Army.
What I have learned about West Point is that it is a fluid organization, like the Army. West Point is specifically charged by Congress to produce officers for the US Army. period. Yes there is a lot of tradition at West Point - BUT - if the Army changes then West Point changes.
West Point has done a tremendous amount of research in the fields of officer development and leadership. Every thing they do and don't do is for a reason. We might not understand that reason or think the institution or the Army is "going soft". This is a knee jerk reaction by someone who is not taking the time to do their own research.

About females - culture is a difficult thing to change. For the culture to change it starts at the top by the leadership. As with any organization, attitude trickles down from the top.
