I have been trying very hard to get into West Point and I just wanted some other peoples opinions about how my chances look. I am a straight A student, I have a 4.58 GPA, I have never missed a day of school, I am in the top 15 in my class which is like the top 4%, I already took AP calculus and I am taking 5 other AP classes next year, I have lettered in baseball, I work out everyday, I am very active in Nation Honor Society and Key Club, I do a lot of work in the community with my church, I attended Boys' State, I have an 1860 on the SAT and a 28 composite score on the ACT. If I could get some opinions about how my chances look, or things that I could work on to improve my chances, I would greatly appreciate it.

Boys' state looks really good. Lettering should give you some boost. What do you mean by "very active", and are you in JROTC?

You have a great profile. I'll make a couple suggestions - please keep in mind that "early" is best.

1) Plan to retake both the ACT and SAT next time they are offered. You have the rest of the summer to prep and that should help you to boost your scores.
2) Begin to prep for the CFA. Each individual component could be considered simple enough. But when you do them back-to-back and include the kneeling basketball throw, it can be challenging. Take it as early as possible.
3) As soon as the application materials are available, begin completing them. I understand quite a bit more is on-line right now, so that might make it easier.
4) Check the websites of your members of Congress so that you know how to apply for a nomination. Get it done right away. Ask teachers for recs over the summer if at all possible. They'll be very busy completing them in the fall for your classmates and will appreciate the heads-up.
5) As soon as you receive the request to schedule your DoDMERB exam, get it scheduled. This is often the most time consuming part of the application process and you want as much time as possible to clear.
6) Get in touch with your MALO. It can help to have somebody who knows you.

My unweighted GPA is 3.92, but a teacher messed a grade up so I'm not sure exactly what it is.

I also do plan to retake both tests when they are offered again after the summer, and I am pretty far along in the application process, I have a file opened with West Point, I have been in touch with the admissions officer, I have already completed both components of the DoDMERB. I have practiced the CFA several times, and I work on it about everyday. I have five letters of recommendation and I will be sending in my applications in the next week or so to my congressman and senators.

wmace10: seek out leadership early in your senior year...i.e., be captain of the baseball team, president of NHS and Key Club. You look very competitive. I've seen worse stats get an LOA early fall. Best of luck to you!

Much of the application process was on paper just a few years ago. Keep an eye on your candidate site.
