I was wondering what type of school supply stuff I should bring with me to MIT? Do I need just the regular old spiral/binder..or are there other things I should get that might make life a bit easier..

Maybe a stapler or paper clips -- problem sets can go to several pages and not all departments provide a stapler for keeping sheets together.

Many rooms have desks attached to the chairs, but some don't, so a clipboard might be nice.

I would advise waiting until you get here to buy all that stuff -- there's a Staples up near Harvard Square, plus the Coop stocks school supplies which can be paid for with TechCash.

As far as binders and what not goes, just buy whatever you're comfortable with. I don't tend to take notes, so I never really buy anything except for pencils and I don't bring anything to class. Other people use 3-ring binders and folders and notebooks for every class to keep everything together. As far as paper goes, you'll be able to steal it free from athena clusters. Just make sure you got your laptop.

If you're going to be putting all your class handouts in binders, get a 3-hole punch. Also, a mini-stapler you can keep in your backpack might be a good idea for when you're turning in psets.

I agree about the stapler; I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk down the hall by the p-set turn-in box, knocking on office doors asking to borrow a stapler.
