Summer Storage question

It seems the dorm closet/storage are filled with boxes already. I wonder how does external storage companies work for the summer?

They dropped off movable storage at the dorm, let us fill in with our stuff and then they will pick up the storage? Do people usually share the 5x7x8 storage that the storage company dropped off? How come I don't see any advertisement on campus on sharing the movable storage?

Typically how many people can share the storage? I can not imagine the campus being filled with those "storage" outside the dorm. Do they drop them off some place and we have to move our luggage there?
