It might be July 25th though. I'm not applying for a pre-orientation program, but I know that the housing lottery results comes out July 25th.. so it's fairly likely that this would be then as well.

FLP counselors met tonight to make final decisions, so I'd imagine it's relatively soon before you know.

Two best options:

1) Not doing an FPOP
2) Signing up for a free FPOP, and then blowing if off to go do really awesome stuff.

Also, avoid CityDays. It's not worth it.

@Olo...(2 best options thing)

Huh? But why?
Does it depend on the fpop? And what other stuff could you do?
I was hoping it would be really fun...
What is CityDays like?

Oh, is anyone else doing DOE?

(This post needs more question marks ????????)

I'm sure some FPOP's are really fun.

But they're never as fun as the OTHER things you could be doing.

I picked EECS, so far no reply :-(.

@Olo, when you say "other things" you don't mean MIT related stuff do you? FPOPs end before the 24/25th right? And don't they not allow students to arrive/check into their dorms any earlier than that?

If you want to arrive earlier than the 24th/25th but aren't doing any sort of organized program, you could email the house manager of your temp dorm and ask to be allowed to come early. Your room will be ready -- all summer residents have to move back to their fall rooms around mid-August -- and most of the house managers would have no problem with people coming early.

"Allow" is a word that's not used very often at MIT. There's always a way to get around the rules.
