| Yeah guys it's a really cool opportunity, don't waste it or anything without giving it a try. I've never heard of any other school letting you sample and pick your undergrad housing, it's a pretty unique thing that you'll get to do. |

| I just remembered that questions I had from before.
Can someone tell me the printer/Athena cluster status of each dorm (or at least what you know)?
I am not too sure if I should get a $150 laser printer with a scanner.
I know for New House, the printers are on the first floor.
I know Mollie's printer died in the middle of her junior year. XP
So what are the your thoughts on personal printers?
i thought having a scanner could be convenient for digitalizing my notes and copying certain pages from books to stick in to my notebooks or something. printing stuff without walking too far is also nice. but is it worth it? |

| Having a scanner is nice, I think, but as I've already opined, I used the MacGregor Athena printer exclusively for several years. You can download a program to print directly to Athena from your computer. |

| I get the point about how temporary the housing situation is. Why, then, is there any need for the initial housing lottery? |

| It's not how it used to be -- when freshmen were not required to live on campus, everyone was assigned a random room on campus and final housing assignments were made after a week of rush (which at the time included fraternities, sororities, and independent living groups).
When the change was made to house freshmen on campus, the policy of a housing lottery the summer before freshmen arrived was implemented. |

| Most dorms don't have athena clusters. That said, most dorms will have at least one or two machines that will be open for use. But athena clusters are open all the time, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a computer on campus any time you need it. |

| I got my second choice, MacGregor. From the schedule of REX events it sounds alot like CPW, plenty of opportunities to have a good time. But I am not going to count on being able to actually switch dorms. I saw a Tech article awhile ago showing the numbers of those who were actually able to switch into the more "popular" dorms and the numbers are extremely discouraging. Basically, someone has to want to leave before someone else's wish to be let in can be granted. Looks like MacGregor it is. Where do I keep my bike?
Here's the chart, if anyone's interested. Where Did Freshmen End Up After the Housing Adjustment Lottery? - The Tech

| Wow. I wasn't aware a whole 10 people were able to move into Baker during re-assignment last year. I thought it was only 3 or 4. |

| Actually I was more interested in Simmons which had 23 move ins with 34 requests last year but seems to have been even more popular this year. Baker was 10/54. I'll look around, but MacGregor suits me fine. |

| Same! MacGregor was my 2nd choice. I want to look around and try to make the best dorm choice that I could (because I know I'll need moral support when things become stressful ). If I don't end up switching, I'll be fine with MacGregor. Mollie really brings it to life in her blogs.
btw Laura... are non-BC habitants allowed to participate in event like Apple Bake or random in-door snow fights? |

| Just as a note, it's also very common for people to move in outside of the adjustment lottery. All the dorms have waiting lists for this purpose. |
