7.02 Introduction to Experimental Biology

I heart that there is a lottery for 7.02 Introduction to Experimental Biology. How difficult is for a freshman to enroll in the class for spring semester ?

Although it depends on the number of students who want to take the class, it's often difficult for freshmen to take 7.02 in the spring. Usually a few (maybe about half the freshmen who participate in the lottery) will be able to lottery in, but not all.

Still, I think it's worth participating in the lottery, particularly if the student is willing to be flexible about scheduling -- my year, everybody wanted the Tues/Thurs lab section, so if you were able to fit in the Wed/Fri section, you had a better chance of getting in, no matter what your year.

Thank you for the answer. Unfortunately, his 18.03 and HASS class are on MWF. How important is to attend the lecture for 7.02 ? in the class guide, it says only the 1st class is mandatory.

Oh, well, it could be the opposite this year -- I just meant that my particular year, the W/F section was easier to get into.

The lectures for 7.02 are probably not as necessary as lectures for some of the other course 7 classes. Most of the material covered in the tests is taught during lab section or during the short class meeting prior to lab section. But, of course, it depends on the individual. I think I attended all of the 7.02 lectures, but I'm a lecture learner, so I felt it was important for me. It might not be as important for someone else.
