| Montclair curriculum, etc.
Hi--
I haven't been on the site for a while, so sorry for the delay.
My daughter is a soph. at Montclair. I believe you can find the curriculum on the website somewhere; it is typical of a BFA MT program. Acting every semester, music theory, Acting for the Singer, Performance Practicum--which involves learning and performing monologues and songs for in-class critique and discussing acting your songs, etc. There are also university requirements, which you can see online. Dance classes--ballet, jazz, and tap. Some of the schedule depends on how many credits the student wants to squeeze in. My daughter (a long-time overachiever) packed 23 credits into her schedule one semester last year. A busy, busy girl. Not as many this fall, because she's in the show and will be heavily involved in rehearsals.
This is an excellent program spearheaded by the wonderful Clay James, whom the students adore. Clay teaches much of the acting as well as tap and jazz classes. Steve Oosting heads the music portion, and he is the ultimate gentleman and scholar, a fabulous musician, and a wonderful mentor.
Bottom line: my daughter is a happy, happy camper.
