International student financial aid

Hullo, I was just wondering if any of you lovely international admits got loans in your fin aid packages?

I didn't, and I found it weird, I thought they always included loans as part of fin aid for international students.

(And my family contribution is more than double of what my family can *afford*. It sucks, 'cause I've just started to get pretty excited about the prospect of attending MHC. And because of fin aid, I don't know if I can go. Boo.)

hi there, yes my fin aid package includes loans. Probably not all financial aid packages are released with loans, but I would email the financial services immediately if they did not meet your full need and you have questions about the fin aid package you received.

Oh, alrighty. Because I was thinking, if only they could transfer some of that parent contribution amount to a student loan or something, it would make things a little easier. Yeah I'm going to email them soon (like, right about now), I found out I was admitted last week but I waited till I got my other college decisions before making any move.

hei limitedvocab!
like you, i got no loan and my family contribution (roughly 7000$/year with personal/books counted) is a little too much for my family to bear, considering that i declared in the isfaa that i could only pay maximum 2000$... well, so immediately after seeing this sum, i asked some details from the Student Financial Services and also requested a review of my fin aid file. they responded today and told me my file will indeed be reviewed and a response will be given in about 2 weeks. i don't plan to send the enrollment deposit till then, so see if you can do smth about your case.
Ooh, and for the record I just said that the contribution was too much for my family and that out the theoretical earnings of my parents ( 27k /year or so) they are given ( in their own hands, that is) about 19k, because of government taxes, a lot less that i had stated in the isfaa. hope this will make them change their mind a bit and give me a loan. i know other people admitted at moho who didn't get a loan as well. so we're not the only ones.. don't know why this happened.
Well, hope this message could be of some help to you . good luck!

@budweiser
you got a loan??? is it much to pay? sorry for asking, but still mad they didn't give me one) !

@danapetrini
yes I got a loan, and it IS much to pay~~The amout of loan for the first year is $3500, and if there should be any increase in total cost(except for personal expenses), the increase will be reflected in the loan--neither in campus work nor grant. There's a statement of the loan policy in my fin aid package, where I found the amout of loan for four years would go from $19000 to $24000

This is indeed MUCH money...so even before I graduate from college and find a job, I'm already in debt...

didnt get one either.... was pretty surprised how the hell can MHC afford giving away $50,000 in grants????? With all the money, its much cheaper for me to go to the US than to stay here in Australia... which is where i am now lol. if i stay here, I'll have a $15,000 debt in uni fees...

I emailed SFS, so I'll sit around and wait for their reply. I didn't ask them for a review of my aid package, but I did have a number of questions regarding the package, so I guess I'll see how that turns out, I might ask them for a review if it's possible.

Do you guys think I can get a private student loan e.g. from internationalstudentloan.com, that sort of thing? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Hey guys. If my finaid package doesnot include a loan at the beginning, does it mean there'll be no loan for me for all 4 years or just this year? Right now they meet my full need, but if next year they give me a loan of five thousand bucks, that'll be so bad
