Life at Mount Holyoke

I was wondering what is life like at MHC? What is a usual day for you there (your schedule, activities, work, anything). Does Mount Holyoke have a gym or a sport center? What about the dorm rooms- how many roomates are there for juniors/ seniors? Since the college is not very close to a big city, is there a lot to do there regarding political/ feminist/ human rights activism?
Please feel free to add anything you want to talk about. Thanks for your time.

Can you please add sth about the libraries too? Is there one library or more than one? Are they open 24 hours? Are they located far away from the dorms?

Does Mount Holyoke have a gym or a sport center?: Yes.

How many roommates are there for juniors/seniors?: You will most likely have a single by your upper years, but there may be a chance (I'm not positive) that you'll have one roommate as a junior. If you are a transfer, you will probably have a roomie your first year.

Is there one library or more than one?: One very beautiful, award-winning library! It is truly lovely!

Are they open 24 hours?: Only during finals. It is open pretty late anyway though.

Are they located far away from the dorms?: No, not at all, but precisely how close you are depends upon your dorm. Pearsons is the closest to the library.

Is there a lot to do there regarding political/ feminist/ human rights activism?: Do you mean protests, or discussions and club-related options? I'd say that the latter is not lacking at all, but the former is more of a city activity. I think I remember reading about MHC students taking a trip to DC for a pro-choice protest a while ago, and different orgs set up trips related to their different causes, so you will have SOME active protest options. Recycling and waste-management are big issues there right now too. Anyway, MHC students are generally very cognizant of political and equal rights issues. You will never be at a loss for finding someone with whom to discuss and debate issues of importance. You just may have to do a bit more planning if you want to travel to NYC for a rally.

What are the most important things (and the most necessary ones) to bring to a dorm room?
