How easy (or difficult) is it to fit in courses at the other 4 colleges in the consortium? My D is interested in MHC but the bio program lacks courses in human bio that she wants....but UMass has them (and she is NOT interested in going there, which is fine). Do the times work out? Can you have a car as a freshman? If not, how timely is the shuttle bus? Thank you!
Well you can have a car on campus, but the bus might be more convenient. I had two classes off campus during the same semester and it worked out just fine by taking the bus. Just make sure that she checks her schedule and that she has enough time to come back for the rest of her classes.
The report that I get from my daughter is that the roads are pretty well cleared.They know how to handle it up there. The big trouble spot appears to be the "notch" or a big bend in the road to Amherst (Route 116). Sometimes they close it and even the buses don't travel that way. I don't know whether they take an alternate route or what. Apparently, it never happened on a day my daughter "had" to get to Amherst.
For what it's worth, my daughter opted not to take her car...too much trouble in the winter. "Why de-ice and scrape...and maybe dig the car out when you can take the PVTA!"
