Njit bs/md

Quick question:

Im applying to bs/md programs, and I have my interview for the NJIT Honors College coming up soon. This isn't the med interview, but I am interested in knowing how the interview is, as all bs/md applicants have to be accepted into the honors college first. My interview is via phone with the interim dean.

Please gimme some tips/info

Thanks!

They have to narrow down the number of applications they forward to the med school so they use thus interview. I think about 50% of the apps of those who reach the interview stage are passed on to the med school. Be prepared for normal med school interview questions.

Yeah, my UG interviews before the med school ones for UMDNJ had med school type questions. Be ready to articulate everything you wrote and deal with any random questions they may throw at you.

umm i had a 3.73ish with a high weighted and a pretty high SAT score. I have plenty of ECs to go along with that, including an internship at NIH and doctor shadowing/nursing home volunteering, etc. Thanks for the tips, my interview is today!! Any last minute tidbits or something?

not too bad. the only question that threw me was if i was overwhelmed by any of my medically related activities. I also had a UG interview at WCU for tehir drexel bsmd. The guy did a lot of talking and gave me information about the program, and less of actually interviewing me. Which was good.

@nikhilbg

How long did it take for NJIT & Drexel to get back to you? And was it phone interview or was it in person?

And congrats on making this far! Let us know if you officially get accepted!

Also, did you apply to any other joint programs affiliated with UMDNJ and did you hear back from them as well?

Just wanted to add - if you have any questions about TCNJ/UMDNJ, I would be happy to provide you answers based on my DS's experience. Overall, I can definitely say that it's a terrific program and my son is extremely pleased with the thorough hands-on clinical experience he is gaining at UMDNJ. NJMS prepares you extremely well.

Also, at TCNJ, Dr Shevlin who is the Director of the BS-MD program is excellent. Overall, it's been a very positive experience for my DS.

I had my interview with NJIT a month ago too and recently got a letter of acceptance to the honors college. The dean told me he would forward my application to the medical school but my GPA (a 3.762) was way too low and I would most likely not get through the medical school screening.

For those of us who've also interviewed for the Honor's College: When can we expect to hear back from UMDNJ about a med school interview?
