oh wow, I guess interviews are being established for out of state too. eekss that's alright, I'm sure we all will get accepted to great programs regardless of if we get accepted to this. Maybe they are still calling?

I have no idea whether or not they r still callin'. i'm outa state (A-Town), and i got a message Dec. 15 (but the message didnt make it 2 me till Jan. 15). I call Morganegg bout 9 times be4 she called back. apparently her secretary just quit, so what was be4 considered disorganized is now,4 lack of a better term, f***'d up. Now to my questions: How is the student body, both academically and socially? is the BA/MD program full of sevants, hard workers, somethin in the middle, or just a mixture of em all? also i saw some1 said that the campus is dry, but do ppl really hold 2 it. I have chilled at places like UGA which is "officially" dry, yet i've never made it to a bed. Now for the academic q's: hows the stress level and how tough is the grading? Is this a place where A's r 4 only the anti-social, or do quiet a few top marks go around?

and 4 all those who like #s:
1390 SAT(800 math)
800 SAT II Math II
720 SAT II Chem
4 AP Chem
40+ College credit hours from joint-Enrollment and summers
Lots of EC and volunteer work
Spent the summer at Cornell taking a career seminar 4 future medical professionals
ect....
My interview is Feb. 12

Last question, i c every1 sayin be up to date on current events (especially medical related) 4 the interview, so any1 know wuts been goin on recently?

Dear, MadFr0g

Would I be very far behind if I dont take AP chemistry in high school? And what is up with this CHEMISTRY TEST I hear about from people who went to the interviews? Is the test really hard?

if you don't take the AP chem, you'll only be as far behind as you want to. you can take chem 1 in the summer, chem 2 during the fall, and be caught up to take orgo the following semester. otherwise you'll have to take orgo in the follow summer.

the chem test during the interview is really easy...it's just a placement test. just review basic chem and algebra. you should be fine if you've had previous chemistry

ok... so I finally raised my SAT score up to 2040 and I found out that my rank is 3 out of 600+ students... what are my chances of getting into UMKC's 6-year program? Also, do I have to take the chemistry and math subject tests or are they just recommended?

I officially have no idea what is going on with this program. How far in are out of state interviews? If we didn't get anything by now, does that mean rejection?

^ I agree. And to shelby's post, the reason the secretary 'quit' was because the admissions people found out that she was giving interviews to people she knew--even those that weren't supposed to get them. That's the information I was given. I'm not sure if it's true, but it does make sense.

To answer Satkid11's questions:
1. I'd say both also. Its pretty stressful, and you should find out soon into the program if its made for you or not.

2. The first few semesters you are on main campus, so you're sitting in lecture halls with a lot of students (med and non-med), but once you're in your 3rd semester, all of your classes are basically with fellow med students, who become like your family. You'll do hospital rounds with your "Docent Team" of 10 fellow students the first 2 years, and then switch teams after that so that you'll be with med students from other years.
3. TAs teach the labs, which in my opinion stink, but we can't do anything about it. All lectures are taught by Professors, and some are reeeeally good, especially Dr. Law who teaches Anatomy your first year.

4. The food stinks.

5. Most people are in-state and go home on the weekends, so the dorms are very quiet then.

6. If you don't keep the 3.0 GPA, or if you fail a science class, you will most probably have to extend or drop.

To Momat:

for the Toledo Chem test, i think they give you a periodic table, but u have to bring you're own calculator.

To monica121:
you won't be behind if u didn't take AP chem in HS (those who did will be ahead). the toledo chem test is not very hard if u took a preap chem class in HS, but if you don't pass and they want to admit u, u will have a "conditional" admittance or something (i cant remember the term they use), in which case they will make you take chem 1 over the summer, and you will be able to continue in the program if u pass it. but if u pass the Toledo test, you can go ahead and take chem 1 over the summer, or take it in the fall, its your choice. some people think those who are ahead in their chemistry have it "easier" bcuz their class load will be smaller the first few semesters, but keep in mind that those who take chemistry at umkc will have those grades to "cushion" their science GPA, and will learn earlier on how to juggle taking more than one science course at a time.

sounds like its getting frustrating without interview calls-- i would be patient if Ms. Morgenegg says they are backed up. I see her flustered walking down the halls of the med school these days.
