ED to PLME or Brown & PLME: I need help!!!

Yo,
So I know I'd love to spend 8 years in Brown's PLME so I'm set on applying ED to the PLME (for those who are unfamiliar with the program, Brown lets you decide whether you want to be bound to PLME if you get in ED, or if you love Brown undergraduate, you can check the box that says you want to be bound to Brown if you are deferred from PLME).

I just visited Brown and thought it was amazing and everyone there was awesome!! I know, typical...Now I want to apply ED to Brown and PLME, but then I will not be able to apply to other 7/8 year medical programs (HPME, BU, USC).

I can't decide whether it would be more wise to apply ED to Brown and PLME, but take the risk of not getting into PLME, and then go through the typical pre-med track at Brown (which wouldn't be horrible)..or apply ED to just PLME, but have a lower chance of getting into PLME, and then apply to other 7/8 year medical programs as I wish....

I need help!!! !! ! !! !!! (exclamation mark palindrome)...

Personally, I'd apply ED to only PLME. Then again, it's all personal decision. Evaluate whether you'd be happier going to Brown for regular undergrad pre-med or going to a different BA/MD program. I think it really depends on your stats too and your realistic chance of getting into PLME.

That's a good point..I won't be highfalutin and say I have a great chance of getting in, but I'm a good candidate. That said, there's a load of great candidates so I think only the adcoms are justified in deciding whether I have a chance or not of getting in...

I would love doing undergraduate pre-med at Brown but it would be more stressful than some 7/8 year medical program. That's the decision I have trouble making... .. . .. ...

I don't know. I've heard that every combined medical program is incredibly stressful. I think alot of work just comes with the territory.

^Surely not. Accelerated programs can be tough (mostly 6, 7 isn't bad), but in eight year combined programs, you're doing what everyone else is doing. Plus, you're actually less stressed about med school admissions.

"surely not" as in not wise to apply ED to Brown and PLME..because you say later on it's less stressful in combined programs but you say people do everything normal pre-meds would do

so you're saying it is or is not wise to apply ED to Brown and PLME...
thanks bud

Yes, I was responding to chaz90. A ^ means you're responding to the post directly above yours. A ^^ means two posts above yours, etc.

^The question is not that difficult to answer. If you are interested in just a combined program don't apply ED to Brown. If you're interested in Brown and are looking at PLME as a bonus, apply ED.

Does it really affect your chances of getting into Brown PLME if you dont get the box that binds you to brown

Can you apply to Brown PLME not ED? Like just during regular cycle?
