Transfer to a Different Med School After 1st Med School Year Under BS/MD

Hi everyone!
I was wondering whether one could transfer medical schools after the first year of medical school under a BS/MD program. The contract says that I cannot apply to any other med schools, but if I go to the associated med school for a year and try to transfer, is it a feasible option? The contract does not say anything about transfer during medical school itself, but rather, after the undergrad years. Thanks!

It is extremely difficult if not impossible, and only under extraordinary circumstances that you can transfer to another U.S. LCME accredited medical school, once you enter the medical school part of your program. Many times they require that you actually get a letter from your Dean detailing your academic status and supporting your transfer. Even then, the school you are asking will not let you transfer unless: 1. They have space, 2. You have finished the basic sciences portion of your medical school, and 3. You have finished and passed USMLE Step 1.

If you are really unhappy in your program, the only feasible option is to either go to the "normal" undergrad track in the same school, at the end of your 1st year (I guess that's after finals are over in May) OR if your home undergraduate school is a low-tier school then transfer to a much better undergraduate school for either this summer or fall to complete your studies at, if you are interested in going to a top-notch medical school. While your transferred classes won't count in your university GPA at your new school, it will count for your AMCAS GPA which is the only GPA that medical schools look at.
