SAT II: Writing

i know that universities that have the accelerated med programs used to require the SAT II in writing, but do they still require it? i've checked on some sites, and i've seen that northwestern and boston do not require it, yet george washington does.

well theres no such thing as SAT II writing anymore, so it must mean they require that you take the NEW SAT test which includes the writing portion

thanks for the reply, but has GWU not updated their site?

Seven-Year Integrated BA/MD

* An additional recommendation from a teacher in a major subject who can comment on your writing ability.
* A recommendation from a science teacher.
* Applicants are required to submit the SAT II in writing, science, and mathematics.
* Applicants to the Seven Year BA/MD program must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident and must apply as a regular decision freshman.

BU and PSU require the MCAT.

Brown and University of Rochester do not. GWU doesn't, but it does require a min.100 hours of community service each year of the undergrad.

sending ACT scores

im sure somebodys already asked this, but im taking the 9/24 ACT and theres up to a 7 week period for them to mail out test scores, and 7 weeks after the test date some of the straight programs already have application deadlines. am i just wrong about this or do you have to do something to get your scores there on time?

The schools would most likely look at the new SAT as a different entity (2400 scale). Before, most of them required SAT II Writing in addition to a math and science test, but now that a writing section has been consolidated into the new SAT, schools will no longer require the SAT II Writing test.

Bottom line: schools will definitely evaluate the new writing section, not just math (m) or critical reading ("v").

Also, don't take heed to the fact that many school websites only discuss the old SAT. The reason is that they are awaiting this year's applicants who are the last class to use the old SAT. After this year's application period is over, the schools will likely alter their requirements.

See, the first thing you probably saw on this thread was the title: "how med PROGRAMS will evaluate new SAT." The title is most likely indicative of what the thread will be about. Cheers!
