Trumpetguysmom, I'm so sorry, how frustrating! I'm sitting here feeling envious because my adorable DS missed applying for a major scholarship, and decided a couple of applications were just too much to do at the last minute, etc. Sigh. This whole thing is so ridiculously out of our control, and it's so impersonal, yet it feels so personal. Your son has some great acceptances. Crossing fingers for the next one!

I haven't been here in awhile, as it has been a crazy year. But wanted to update on my daughter's college adventures. She has gotten three of four acceptances so far: Duquesne University, Westminster Choir College, and Eastman. All are for BM in organ performance. Just got the Eastman acceptance, and she is in heaven. We'll see what she chooses as financial packages continue to arrive!

Trumpetguysmom,
My Lawrence letter hasn't come yet and neither has my friend's and we're both just north of Milwaukee, so I'm assuming they've mailed out to further distances first. But then again, my friend is voice with a jazz emphasis on guitar, I'm piano and your son is trumpet, and I don't think any of the reported acceptances came from those instruments minus the regular voice people so it could be location or instrument.

BassDad - just to clarify, I didn't mean required by you but for the schools that required a performance as part of their audition. Sorry for being unclear! Thanks for all you do! I respect your contribution to all of us as we sort things out!

Acceptances vary from instrument to instrument. My friend's son auditioned at Eastman two weeks before my daughter, and he has heard nothing back yet. All the organists we know who auditioned all got their acceptances with email last night.
go figure.
we are still waiting on Oberlin, who said they would let us know mid-March. We are still waiting, tho!

@Lmw586: Son was accepted into the music programs at FSU, UCF, USF, Stetson, UF and S. Carolina (we are FL residents). Thus far, have received one firm scholarship offer from UF for $2K, Stetson sent an email saying their offer would be here this week or next, and S. Carolina the first week of April....
I'm not sure how much stock I put in private school offers - Stetson publishes their tuition as $36K per year, but offered him $21K for academics right off the bat. With the music offer pending, that's still $15K per year. UF on the other hand offered $2K music scholarship off a tuition of $5K, and he gets Bright Futures...so while $21K SOUNDS like a huge offer amount, it still doesn't come close to the financial situation at a strong public university. I feel some private schools inflate their tuition so they can offer large-sounding amounts, which really don't add up to such a great deal.

The long awaited floodgates have opened. Hang on to your hats, folks, it is going to be one heck of a ride for the next month or so.
Congratulations to umlegacy and son, Rosie26 and daughter, electricbassmom and son, GS707 and daughter, showgirlsmomma and daughter, cellocompmom and son, bassckmomma and daughter, lovetheviola, momophony and son (also thanks for the correction), suzukimom and daughter, and TrumpetDad and son.
For those who received scholarships and did not mention amounts, I understand why you may not want to go public with that information. If you are willing to have me add the amounts into the overall statistics but without associating them with your screen name, please send me the information via PM. For those who have found my PM box full, I just cleaned it out.

Congratulations to MatisseGeenty and violagirl.
Georgia Girl, I think that information is of major interest to any USC applicants reading this thread and have no objections. Note that I am not a moderator and cannot delete anything. I would only trouble the moderators to remove something that was a blatant TOS violation, so I can only ask that people be considerate (as you have) when posting items other than acceptances or congratulations to this thread.

Our D got accepted into:
Florida Southern College - BM Classical Voice Perf. (planning on double major with Music Ed)
Florida State University - BM (Music Education - Voice emphasis)
Steson University - BM Classical Voice Perf. (planning on double major with Music Ed)
U of Miami/Frost - BM Classical Voice Perf. (planning on double major with Music Ed)
No, we are not from Florida, we are from Midwest, but we are planning to move down there as soon as the right opportunity comes along. That is why she focussed more on the geographical areas we have in mind.
we will share the shcolarship info later. She is waiting for few more decisions, but she is exteremely happy with what she got already.
Thanks everyone, BassDad, Mezzo'sMama!
