I will take the information any way you care to send it. The easiest way is to post it to this thread. Scholarship info, while appreciated, is completely optional. If you would prefer to have the amount of any scholarship included in the overall statistics but without being publicly associated with your screen name, send that info to me via PM.

Please do mention the full name of the school, the degree program or programs you have been accepted for, and your primary instrument or voice. We also like to keep track of whether you will attend that school and the teacher with whom you will study, so please share that information once it is known.

My 3rd son was accepted today for Loyola Marymount Univ. Recording Arts program. A great program, if he ends up there! He's got a few other applications out, but this is a solid choice in a sunny place. Yay!

Congratulations, SJTH and son. Is there an instrument or voice that I can list for him?

Congratulations to PianoMan12, who reports via PM an acceptance by the University of Iowa for a BM in Piano Performance.

Electronic music composition would probably be the most accurate, Bassdad. Thanks!

Is there an instrument he uses for his compositions, keyboard perhaps?

S was accepted to Elmhurst College, for jazz studies and physics. His instrument is trumpet (duh ). He was also given a $20,000/year scholarship. He auditioned at Bradley this morning and when we get his scholarship info I'll post.

Congratulations trumpetguysmom and son. Are we talking about a double degree or a double major program here? What degrees are involved? E.g. is it a BM in music plus a BA in physics, or a single BA with majors in both physics and music, or something else entirely?

BassDad, we still have to explore exactly what it means, Elmhurst's music degree is a BM, but they don't have a specific directed dual degree program. I suspect that if he ends up at Elmhurst (it's where I work and also his safety) we'll see how it plays out. Given enough time, he should be able to do a BM in music and a BS in Physics. I do know there're students doing both right now, but I'm not sure what their diplomas end up saying.

And Elmhurst College is in Elmhurst, Illinois-- a suburb of Chicago.

OK, thanks. I will call it a double degree for now since both a BM and a BS are on the table. I generally only include the location if it is needed to distinguish one campus from another, for example in the University of California system.

Music Ed Auditions

Wow you guys all heard so early! My daughter is still auditioning. She applied to 5 schools for Music Ed and has 2 auditions down, 3 to go. I don't see many state schools on here either. Hmm

Coongratulations, Squiggles. I'm feeling very dense tonight. What is music LC? My daughter is auditioning at Fordham in early February for theater and I did not think she would hear anything from them until April.

@glassharmonica - LC is Lincoln Center campus (my shortcut-sorry) which I think is where your D will go if she ends up there. S has pretty good stats but didn't receive one of the 10K scholarships that are commonly offered with the admission package. I was told to apply for financial aid (which I thought would be a waste) but it appears that you need to do that for other merit money to open up whether you qualify or not. We were very surprised when he received this one. btw...he applied EA and heard around Dec 20th. Good luck!
