USC's Thornton School of Music Receives Gift for New Hall

Alice Schoenfeld, of USC's Thornton School of Music, has committed $3 million dollars to create a new symphonic hall on the SC campus. She has been the holder of the Schoenfeld Endowed Chair at Thornton.

The facility will be a dedicated orchestra rehearsal hall. It will feature complete audio and video recording capabilities with the latest technology. Included will be a custom designed percussion storage area, humidity control systems, lighting and suspended flooring for sound isolation.

Alice and her sister, Eleonore, have both been on the faculty at Thornton. Eleonore was the holder of the Gregor Piatigorsky Chair in Violoncello until her death in 2007.
