Not true, my D got 24K at Frost. It's called the Constance Weldon Scholarship.

In case it matters: I thought that was from the music school but was awarded for leadership. I thought it is also not awarded to first year students.

No, it's a merit scholarship. She has it for all 4 years (she's a soph--for a few more days at least--)and she has to maintain a certain average in music and non-music courses and some other criteria. Probably ensembles and stuff. It is for 3/4 tuition and it increases each year as tuition increases. It was $24K freshman year, $25and a bit this year.

2007- D, horn performance:
CIM, $20,000 per year, merit
Oberlin Conservatory, $14,000 per year, merit-conservatory dean’s scholarship+ very generous other grant aid
CCM, $2500 Conservatory; $5000 academic merit

Kansas University-$10,000 National Merit; $1500 Music
U Colorado @ Boulder-$1,000 Music
CCPA-$12,000 Music; $2,000 Dorm stipend
Mannes-$15,000 Music
MSM-$8,000 Music
UMiami Frost-$24,000 Academic
Juilliard-$20,000 Music

Ultimately it was Juilliard that gave the largest percentage of total cost.
