Hey to all!

I NEED TO GET THE HECK OUT OF MY CURRENT SCHOOL...I highly highlyyyyyyyyyy dislike it and I'm looking for music schools that admit transfers halfway through the year (for vocal performance.)

This just isn't working out, and the music program here is horrid. IT's something, but not nearly what I wanted to get out of ma college xperiencia.

Well, since you inquired about Boston University earlier, I'll mention that it accepts mid-year transfers.

Sorry to hear things are not working out for you at Tulane, I believe. To help others considering said program, it might be nice for you to summarize the good and the bad. Those comments may others in their future directions, as well help others help steer you in the proper direction.

Sure, I'll summarize the pros/cons.

Pros: It's in New Orleans, which actually has a really nice music scene (jazz, not rock, classical or the like. but i like jazz haha.)--, you CAN major in vocal performance, you have a junior/senior recital.

Cons: You have many many core requirements to fulfill, the total number of credits (out of 120) for the music performance major is 53...figure that one out, professors are not that great I think, (like for music harmony I had to DROP it b/c the prof. failed everyone oh homework and didn't explain things ever,) there are next to no music majors, and the ones that are are general music majors (very few voicemajors,) any voice majors usually double/triple major, like just doing it b/c they want a little pizazz in college, quality of choirs is not the greatest (i was in jr. mendelssohn so it could make me biased haha,) school is very expensive (47K a year,) program accepts pretty much all applicants as long as your cd (or if yu request a live audition) has what they require (for me it was 3 songs.)

There are maybe some I forgot, but that's a general overview of the program. There are other reasons I want to leave Tulane, but I won't bogg this thread down haha.

Jeremy---vocal performance (or any performance major) is a huge commitment. Rather than trying to squeeze into a school or a teachers studio
on the fly---have you considered taking the next term off and possibly working with a really good teacher near your home? You could really focus on
a great audition repetoire and get into a solid program. Just wondering....

Hey musicamusica,

Yes! Actually it's funny you mention that, I have also been considering that. Although...I really don't want to live in my parents house again X___X That is just a nightmare -- responsibility and all haha. Once I have this kind of independence, I don't want to turn back. however, i have absolutely considered this option, and as of now it semes like it actually might be a very nice option. I just might be kindof lazy come fall semester next year haha.
