congratulations on your many acceptances! That must be a nice relief at this point.

I grew up half my life in Vermont and I strongly, strongly, urge you to stay away from UVM if you are looking for a good music education, in any field. I looked at schools in Vermont when I was beginning the college process and sadly could not find any that would give me a decent education for music. Also, the music teachers from my high school, which was one of the better ones in vermont-for music and academics, both said that if I wanted to pursue music seriously, I should not apply anywhere in state. Period. One teacher graduated from Umich for music ed and the other graduated from Crane. That said, if you have any questions regarding why I strongly recommend staying away from UVM feel free to PM me. I would be more than happy to explain my stance...and if you have any questions about Crane, especially if your D plans on going there, feel free to PM me about that as well. I know a number of the faculty and could recommend some of them to you as well as give you an overview of the programs pros and cons. Best of luck to you with the rest of your results and your final decision!

Were any cellists accepted at Rice? I was denied (disappointing). I was accepted at UT (Tsang), and I am still waiting for an official letter from SMU (Diaz) and Vanderbilt (Wong). Also, does anyone know what's happening with Hoebig and Harrell? Will Hoebig be full-time?

Firstly, I loved that it's so much closer to home (KS) than most of the conservatories, and I was really impressed with the faculty. They seemed eager to want to get to know us all. I loved Boulder, and I feel like it could be a good place. I'm waiting on Juilliard, Curtis, MSM, and Roosevelt, but I'd like to see if I get some good scholarship money from Boulder.

Well, the bad news just keeps on coming. Just received a phone call from SMU, no space in Diaz studio, "are you in interested in studying something else at SMU?" I hope Vanderbilt has the positions the cello dept thinks it has. So, does anyone know anything about Bion Tsang and the music program at UT? My parents are afraid I will be totally lost there because it's so big.
