| For those of you that got accepted into IU, did you receive anything regarding scholarships? I am just curious. |

| Not sure what to think after D's auditon here. Kind of strange how they do it in a classroom setting verses a stage like the other auditions. Anyone could listen to everyone elses audition from the hallway. We did hear some really great singers! |

| Yes, I agree! That was kind of awkward for me as well, especially since in the other schools I auditioned for had their singers in a recital hall. It was kind of weird to be singing in a classroom, while other singers were in the hallway listening in. I guess each school is different in that aspect. |

| Wow, a stage? Maybe it's a vocalist thing... I've done four auditions so far and all of them have been in faculty studios... |

| very very exciting news! Congratulations to you and your DD! I remember when I was with my DS and checking his account online not expecting anything and the screen said "You have been accepted to the Jacobs School of Music". I couldn't believe my eyes! Really, you don't need to worry about acceptances any more! |

| Don't know if it's her first choice, but it is certainly a viable one! Having an option that all can live with takes weight off everyone's shoulders. Congratulations, Linnlew. Does she have more auditions to go? |

| Binx,
Yes...we just have one more and that is Northwestern next Saturday. I am so excited to be done with all of this running around. The time spent with my D has been wonderful, but very hectic! She is so excited about Indiana, but Northwestern has always been a "dream" school to her...a very expensive dream school!
Mommybird & Singersmom07,
Yes, it is so exciting to have some choices now and be done with some of the worrying. Now, it is almost time to just sit back and see what scholarship offers come in. I guess that is another form of worry!!!
Thanks! We are very happy! |

| congratulations to all who have received (and will continue to receive) their acceptance letters from the Jacobs school. I am a freshman vocal performance major studying with Dr. Robert Harrison. I would be glad to answer any questions you might have about the school, student life, choosing a studio professor, etc. If you would like to directly email me, I can be reached at kenmarks@indiana.edu. I may also be able to answer questions for musicians other than vocalists if you are seeking assistance as well.
Once again, congratulations! |

| Has anyone done a violin audition at IU this year now that they have prescreening? If so, it would be helpful to know what the setup is (how big a room, how many listeners, etc). My S has his audition on March 1. |

| very slow at prescreening! My S was accepted at the University in December. He sent all his materials to Jacobs by the deadline (12/1) with his audition date request for 2/28-3/1. He didn't want to email them for the longest time (thought it would be bad luck), but finally he emailed them about 3 weeks ago asking simply if his application was missing something and they replied that they were in the process of scheduling auditions for that weekend and would send his date and time soon. We assumed this was an indication that he was screened in - a correct assumption. Nevertheless, we heard nothing more for another 10 days when I emailed on 2/18 (2 weeks before the audition dates). They emailed right back giving the date and time. Over the weekend, the letter came in the mail postmarked 2/13. I am glad to hear that they are organized when you finally get there, but it has been a little hairy waiting this all out for so long since it is my son's first choice. If you haven't heard from them about that weekend, I suggest emailing them at once!!! |

| stringfollies, are you going to Indiana, too? My son is auditioning today, Feb 29 (gulp; he's sitting in the Detroit airport staring at the snow...his connecting flight is supposed to leave in an hour) (Voice Perf.) and tomorrow (Early music) and I wish I were there! So far I haven't been to any of his auditions--my H did one and the other two were in NYC by train. He has a very good friend at IU, though (not in music yet; she just auditioned this week), who will help him out.
Good luck to your son! |
