Biography and Curriculum Vitae for Orford... help?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has done/is applying for the summer program at Centre d'arts Orford this year. One of the supplementary materials they ask for is a 'biography and curriculum vitae' - the application form lists a webpage where an example is supposedly found but the page refuses to open on my browser. Does anybody know what exactly they want for this? Is it similar to a resume?
Thanks for any help!

lostinthemusic, a CV is basically a resume. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9sum%C3%A9

A past thread on music resumes is here. Cosmos, binx, and team_mom all show appropriate examples.

Musical resume

The biography is a short (one to three paragraph blurb) in prose format citing highlights from the resume. It will normally include your years of instrumental study, hometown, education and noted teachers, music awards, accolades, and or famous venues, and occaisionally professional collaborations and memberships in professional or instrument societies.

Knowing Orford, the biography most probably will appear in printed programs/materials.

Good luck.

Lost or Violadad or anyone else (!), I know students who have attended Domaine Forget, but no one who has gone to Orford. Do either of you know how the program and quality of players compare? I'm particularly interested in strings and chamber music. Thanks!

My impression is that Orford and Domine Forget are the two top programs in Canada. I also think that Orford is a bit more chamber music focused, but both are strong.

It may boil down to specific faculty on any given year. This year, I personally feel Orford's a wee bit stronger, particularly for viola/chamber. I haven't really researched too deeply recently. You may want to consider geographics/transportation/and scholarships, but when I last looked for son, I think they were both full scholarship, and highly competitive.

Thanks violadad! This board is such a lifesaver.

To musicianmom- I can't give you a comparison to the other programs you named, but my friend (a pianist) last year attended Orford at 16 and rates it one of the best experiences of his life. The chamber program is indeed very strong.
