| Well there's a reason that I have a snow thrower that weighs in at about 280lbs, snow tires for my little honda insight and a lot of firewood...it's called a Cleveland winter. Drive safe everyone! |

| Dad in OH - I'm from Erie, PA .... and there's a reason I'm FROM Erie. It's chilly here, too -- I had to wear long sleeves today. |

| Momnipotent -
We're here too! Miserable weather, but the snow makes Oberlin so pretty that my S has altered his impression of the school. Audition tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Last audition at last. I actually feel a little sad about it - it has been a wonderful adventure in many ways. |

| We are going to hit the road at 0500. The university gave us the teacher's home number so we could confirm that he would be able to make it to the university. Did you go to any of the welcome activities? |

| My D has her last audition at Oberlin today. With the nasty weather yesterday, the 7 hours drive turn 11 hours. Their car hit a truck on ohio tpk, about 55 miles to Oberlin. Now I don't care about the audition, I just want them home safely. They decide to stay one more night there. Oberlin's last audition event will start in 7 minutes. I wish all musicians/parents/faculties will have a smooth and safe day! |

| I'm watching the Weather Channel now and you guys are braver than I. I fought the ice when we were in Westerville, but I just saw that there are blizzard conditions now in Columbus. I was complaining about the rain here until I saw a may of Ohio! Good luck to all - be careful out there. |

| We are finished now also. Last audition was yesterday at University of Michigan. This was the most difficult trip for us to make since daughter had a concert the evening before with the youth orchestra and professional orchestra doing a side-by-side performance. We drove 6 hours through the night to get to Ann Arbor at 3 a.m., Auditioned at 10:45 and them headed 6 hours back to Buffalo in dicey weather. Boy, am I glad that's done! The audition went pretty well, so my fingers are crossed. |

| Good gracious! This is parental dedication to the audition cause way above and beyond the call of duty. Stay safe out there, friends. |

| Just got a call from my daughter at Otterbein; last night's opening performance of their opera was cancelled, and tonight's performance may be cancelled as well. Since they had dual-cast the principals roles, they may add an evening performance after tomorrow's matinee. I feel so badly for the seniors but am glad Otterbein is considering the safety of their patrons.
Now I just have to decide if I'm heading down tomorrow or not; I've never missed one of my daughter's performances, but the extreme weather conditions in central Ohio are definitely giving me pause. |

| mezzomom - I'm so sorry you have to make the decision whether to go or not. What terrible timing - I knew Otterbein didn't have auditions this weekend but I hadn't factored in performances. Good luck - is it still snowing there? |

| Hi Cartera,
Yes, it is still snowing here! This is so unusual for us. The last blizzard we had was in 1978 when I was a student at Ohio State! Ok...I just dated myself.
My D's show, Annie (she is Grace) is this weekend. It is a benefit for Children's Hospital here in Columbus. Anyway, we had one show last night and the two for today were cancelled. It is very sad after all of that hard that they put into this show. There is a possibility of re-scheduling for next Saturday, but we are not sure yet. Hopefully, the matinee for tomorrow will be a go.
I know what you are feeling, Mezzomom. I feel bad for everyone! I never would have thought in a million years that we would have this weather in March!
I hope everyone returns safely from their audition trips. I cannot imagine driving long distance in this mess.
We have been done for a few weeks and it sure is a good feeling! |
