Sorry to hear of the opera cancellation at Otterbein. We met the fellow who has the male lead (nice young man) when my D auditioned there on Thurs (pre storm). They seemed very excited about how they were putting a 60's spin on it.

Anyway we're over 28" up here now in the Eastern burbs and are being told to not go out on the roads and that this will end by morning. I had to laugh when the Weather Channel stated "well it looks like the city of Cleveland has given up, maybe they'll try again Sunday morning". I hope that no one had to go to CIM or BW today....

Got to plow out 5 neighbors today too. Time for tylenol!

Cartera, the estimate for the Columbus area is over 20", but it's the wind that is the complicating factor. I've been checking information on road conditions on the OH DOT website (neat little tool they have there called Buckeyetraffic.org which shows the updated road reports from DOT garages throughout OH). I'll check again early tomorrow morning, and if the road conditions have improved from today, I'll probably head out.

Otterbein did cancel tonight's opera and dance concert; both have rescheduled extra performances on Sunday. My daughter said because of the almost back-to-back nature of the performances, Dr. Eckenroth said she will provide dinner (probably pizza). I went out tonight and bought a bunch of pop and munchies to go with pizza and will pick up several pies from our town's homemade pie factory tomorrow if I make the trek. I figure it's probably easier for me to get to stores at this point than it is for anyone in Ohio!

Linnlew, no you're not dating yourself...said from the perspective of someone who remembers the Blizzard of '78 very clearly I was returning to my Michigan college from Chicago by Amtrak; the train ended up unable to move on the tracks, so Amtrak bussed us to the nearest train station...where I sat for two days. I do hope your daughter's play goes on tomorrow, and they're able to schedule additional performances.

JADIOH, the 60s spin has a lot of the kids excited. My daughter is thrilled that she is expected to color her hair (I think she settled on purple and pink), although I am thrilled that she's using temporary coloring! Normally, she keeps her hairstyle quite "normal" because of the operas, so she's pleased that she can let loose a bit for this show.

Linnlew, Yes!! I did audition on the 6th. THey were sooo nice there although it's not my top choice, it is a very viable option. I was surprised at the intensity of the program too! We shall see the outcome. All my schools get back to me REALLY soon **Biting nails very nervously**

So happy the snow has stopped, the sun is shining and the main roads are in good shape in Lebanon Ohio. We got around 16 inches of snow and may get another 1-2 inches this evening. For us this is major. Mezzomom, I hope you make it to Westerville for what promises to be a great performance. This storm has given my dd a chance to catch up on some much needed rest after the last 6 weeks of auditions, competitions and rehearsals. Thinking back to the blizzard of '78, I was at I.U. Bloomington where we made the whole thing one big party! No classes, lots of snow and a quite a lot of liquid refreshment.

Marslizard, no, I ended up staying home. I felt pretty confident about getting down to Westerville, but I had serious concerns about the possibility of road glaze and black ice upon my return well after sunset. I'm heartsick about it, but I'm going down next weekend instead to hear the performance of Faure's Requiem. As my daughter pointed out, she wants me to come hear the requiem, not to be singing it in my memory!

Wow I am glad you guys all got home safely.

Though I did not go for an auditon, I went to visit a school in Indiana and we also got very stuck in the blizzard. It was supposed to be a one day trip, with a flight out Friday. We ended up staying till Monday afternoon. We were flying out of Dayton, and they cancelled everything on Saturday.

Good luck to ALL of you who have yet to hear and congrats to those who are finished. It's the best feeling knowing you've done all you can and it's in the hands of the panel!

Jeremy, it sounds like you have two good choices already. There is a poster here...mezzomom who has a daughter who began as a music major at Otterbein and loves it there. You might want to PM her for information. I know the program has been fabulous for her daughter.

Who knows where she'll be - she wants to go to the University of OtterMadisonChoirCollege/Greensboro. We have to wait to get all the info from everyone and then it will be a tough decision.
