Likely or status letters - who's sending them?

Child will have had 6 auditions (at what most would describe as high level conservatories) by Sunday. Has so far had nice experiences at all auditions with some, but certainly not all, kind, albeit brief, comments from the panel members ("very nice", "perfect" (one panel member, once), "great job"). No letters, follow up, email, etc.

Who is sending likely letters and who isn't?

My sense is that most conservatories do not send follow-up info. My daughter will have applied at 4 by Sunday; one has rolling admissions, so she got a letter, but she does not expect to hear anything else until April 1.

DS did auditions for undergrad and grad schools...the only time he received anything was in grad school where one school (the one he went to) sent him a letter telling him he had been accepted by the audition committee and would be receiving his full admission packet in the mail. BUT we viewed that as an acceptance letter...not a "likely" letter.

There was one poster recently here who said she had received info saying the school was considering accepting three students and she was in the running for being accepted. To be honest, I found that ODD. What if the rest of the auditions turn up very superior students? Then what???

Yes, I was the one who recieved a call from SUNY Purchase a day after my audition saying that they were 'currently' considering three students for admission, and I was one of them. I thought this was very nice, but very confusing... Is this good news? How much should I think into it? And since my day of audition was the first audition day, what about all the other students in the next few days? Would they be considered too?

Purchase is one of my top schools right now and I was so excited about it... But I'm afraid to get too excited because I dont' know what it means.

Here's the deal, no matter what emails or letters you get, what phone calls you receive, mental impressions, telepathic signals, etc., you are not in until the letter comes asking for your deposit.

Positive contact from auditioners is always good and nice to hear but it's no guarantee. You can get contact from the same person in a month saying you were great but sorry nine other people showed up and sounded better.
