Great audition piece:

This is a great audition piece from a new musical: A Change in the Wind, from Caddie Woodlawn. It's new and it's just great. My daughter has booked quite a few parts with this song, but she's getting tired of it. I just love it though!

They made a musical out of Caddie Woodlawn?!?! I LOOOVVEEDD that book when I was a kid. It was right up there with all the Little House of the Prairie books, My Antonia, Little Women, and Bridge to Terabithia. That is so great! :-) I hope that the show is too!!

KatMT (as an aside....)
You mentioned Bridge to Terabithia and I don't know if you know this, but a play with music was made of that book. My daughter did a tour of this professional show throughout VT and NH back when she was 11 years old. Katherine Patterson, the author of the book (who is from VT actually) spoke after one of the performances at one of the venues.

I did know that. I actually have it on a list of TYA shows I would like to do . Right now I am directing Sweeney Todd, and I love "dark" musical theatre... BUT, on the flip side I also live really good TYA/ Family Theatre shows... particularly those that bring wonderful literature to life on stage.

I really love musicals from kids books! Caddie Woodlawn. Anne of Green Gables, Secret Garden. They really resonate with me...
