Does anyone have a list handy of the schools that require a pre-screening DVD to prompt an invitation to audition?

I'm not aware of Penn State having a prescreen, unless this is some new development for next year? It hasn't had one up until now.

Penn State is doing an optional prescreen. If you do the prescreen and move on for a call back you do not have to attend the first half of your audition session at unifieds or on campus. If you choose not to do the prescreen you will have to do the full round at your in person audition.

Beginning next year, Coastal Carolina University will require a pre-screen as well. I believe students who live in South Carolina will be able to audition on campus without the pre-screen. The information hasn't been updated on the CCU website yet, but I will try and remember to come back and post a link here and update the big list once that happens.

The list of schools requiring pre-screens will jump pretty extremely for the 2012-13 audition season... There's a new company working with my alma mater that had quite a huge list of schools that will be requiring pre-screens through their company this coming school year.
The number of audition applicants have just become too large for the schools to handle. I have help run auditions at my school for the past 4 years, it has been CRAZY to hear how many of the applicants had never done MT or decided to audition for a few of their high school shows and go on to major in MT on a whim over the summer before their senior year because of GLEE!! The pre- screen seems like a good plan for seeing who is serious about a career in the theatre vs who thought Rachel Berry's audition looked like fun. This is no comment on their talent but they were going into the entire process blind. I think it's absolutely beautiful when this yields talented students who become passionate about a career in the field but more often than not that is not the case.

^^ BRbway, do you happen to know if this is the case for straight acting as well as MT (at least, at your school)? I know some schools are prescreening for both, others only for musical theater. Thanks in advance for any info you can share!

Shaun0203: I think we're going to be "seeing" a lot of each other on the forum over the next year! My D is a rising senior and after looking at CC for the past three years, it's now her turn to audition this fall!!
So we have a list of schools and pulled dates from last year's cycle -- realizing that things will most probably change for next year, and plugged them into one spreadsheet with dates and locations, along with her commitments for next year. As my D looked at which schools had one or two, which did Unifieds, and how to fit it all together, she said it was like doing a Sudoku puzzle!
Anyway, thanks for asking this question, because audition requirements goes on another spreadsheet!
And we're off!!!

mom2them - We will definitely be seeing each other a lot this year! (Maybe in person, at auditions too). One thing I did on my spreadsheet which I am finding very helpful is to hyperlink the audition info page so all I need to do is click on each school to see if they've updated their info.
As soon as anyone hears about Coastal, or any other schools' new pre-screening policies, please post it here. I will update the Big List of MT Colleges by Program Type once it can be verified.

Mom2them and shaun0203, I am right there with you! My spreadsheet is almost done. I don't know about you guys, but when I read the Penn State website, it looks like the pre-screen video is mandatory. No?
