| Thanks, onstage. I guess S has a week or two before he'll hear anything, if that turnaround time is the norm. |

| Compensation? (aside from the thrill of performing!) Can anyone share what the typical salary would be for a non-equity student doing summerstock? I really have no idea, but do recognize that acting gigs may pay differently than other summer jobs! |

| Yes, unfortunately that's true. I'm sure that salaries vary, but an Equity theater that hires non-Equity actors for a whole season will typically pay about $150 plus room & board. In addition, actors can compile Equity points. A non-Equity theater that only hires non-Equity actors might pay a larger salary (maybe around $300/week) plus room & board, but no Equity points.
I know of a number of theaters that fall into the above salary ranges. Obviously, with the hundreds of theaters across the country, salary and living conditions may vary considerably. |

| Onstage, thanks for the very informed response. It's good to know what we're getting into... |

| In addition to the range of salariesonstage mentioned above -- thre are some theatres that pay less ($45 - $75 per week -- plus room and board), some that ask you to pay them for the experience (or do not pay you but charge you for room and board).
For non-AEA $300 per week plus room and board would be on the high end, but there may be some theatres that pay that much. Some theme parks pay that much or a little more -- but you have to pay rent and feed yourself.
There is a real range of salaries and benefits. |

| Has anyone's son or daughter heard from NETC? My d sent out her application VERY late (like, a week before the deadline!) and doesn't think she got an audition since she's heard NOTHING... anyone? |

| No word yet for my d either & she sent hers early. I believe the paperwork said they would know 3 weeks before the actual auditions tho, so that won't be for another week or so...I'm hoping they give the CT girls a break since that's where the headquarters are & give them appts!
My d is also trying SETC for the first time this year. Has your D done either one before? |

| Hi Melsmom! How's it going? My d's friend is PROBABLY going to Elon; maybe we can hook him up with your d so he'll know someone there! He's VERY excited!!
Anyway, they don't always give the CT girls a break; my d didn't get an audition 2 years ago. She did get one last year, but didn't attend the callbacks due to some confusion with the dance callback, so that was a bust! SETC is too far away, but she'd try it if we were closer. Will your daughter miss any school to go to NETC? That's quite a hike for her! Has she done them before? Either Strawhat or NETC? Can't remember if you mentioned it earlier! Although paywise, the beach umbrella thing is sounding PREEETTY GOODDD.. lol...(check dancermom's post earlier!) |

| Hi again rossji,
That's exciting about your d's friend. Let us know when it's definite & she can meet up with him. This is her first time for both netc & setc. She will miss a couple of days for setc and should be ok for netc if she gets her 1st/2nd choice for audition days/times. Considering her car is needing a break from the long journey she'll need to fly. It sure is a big expense considering the benes IF she even gets work thru either one. (And yes, where can she get that cabana gig?!?) Luckily she will have a free round trip air flight with southwest after one more booked trip, so that will help for next time.
Strawhat is during spring break which should be great, but she has other plans lined up so she couldn't send in the info. (Her first cruise with the roomies.) Last summer she just lucked out & got work locally by auditioning in NYC for a dance job, sometimes things just work out that way.
Anyhow...it would be neat if they both got called, we'll have to tag along & have lunch! Good luck!
ps. Was that Pretttty Goood a reference to Larry David's show? I sure do miss him, & hope that it's true that the writer's strike may be over MON! |

| I'll let you know about d's friend. He played Colin with her in Secret Garden; very talented and SOOOO nice! That's strange that your d will miss a couple of days for setc when setc is so much closer to her school! Isn't it in, like, Georgia or one of the Carolinas? I remember that she got that dance gig last summer... I'm sure something else will come her way this summer, as well!
I hope the writer's strike will be over soon, too... although American Idol is my favorite and it hasn't affected that show at all... (OK, it's my guilty pleasure..) |

| SETC has auditions from thurs thru like saturday, plus all kinds of workshops. It's basically a week long and it's in Tennessee which is about 6 1/2 hrs from Elon, so yuk. Hence the days off. What's decent about it is that most of the acting/dance teachers also go for the week to teach workshops there, so hopefully they'll cut some slack for the students that go. |
