Summer Dance Intensives?

Does anyone know of any good summer dance intensives designed for the beginning levels? I'm basically looking for some place that has a 2-6 week program that teaches ballet and jazz fundamentals and has lots of one-on-one instruction for college age students. Thanks!

Try Point Park, I know that they have a program that runs several weeks each summer and is well regarded.

Point Park is an audition based program that starts with a full ballet class before they begin any jazz. I believe they have finished their auditions for the summer but I haven't looked at the website recently. I would not call Point Parks dance intensive a beginning level, rather an intermediate and advanced levels.

A lot of summer dance intensives are not for beginners and many have auditions. I think another possibility for you is to enroll in a lot of dance classes over the summer at a good studio. You can do that where you currently live perhaps. Maybe you could do it in NYC at Broadway Dance Center (they have various summer sessions, as well as classes at all levels).

AT BDC, besides all the classes you could put together over a few weeks.....there is also a four day Summer Workshop. BUT I just read that they have an 8 week workshop for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS held four times per year, that is for ADULTS 18+. The spring workshop ends May 29 which leads me to believe that a summer one could start in June or July.

Okay, this is an old thread (and I'm new here, so hopefully I'm not breaking any "dead thread revival" etiquette...) but I wanted to add to the OP that one place to consider for strong summer ballet training, including for beginners and college-aged students, is Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle, PA. They have a 5-week summer program that serves dancers from beginners (kids and adults) to professional ballet dancers. There's opportunities to take some supplemental classes in jazz, etc.

This, unlike many of the summer dance program, is nonaudition (although experienced dancers will take a placement class). The staff there does a great job in making sure that students are appropriately placed, the teaching is excellent. There is also a 2-week August course for those unable to attend for 5 weeks.

Something for future reference, maybe.
