Using JRB in auditions with prerecorded music

I know JRB is generally a big no-no because his music tends to be hard to sightread. But is JRB acceptable to use at an audition where you have to provide your own accompaniment (ie: Unified auditions)?

Just wondering...

His songs generally have great acting arcs - in addition to the accompaniment question, there may be 2 other issues.... if you are singing a cut, is it long enough to convey the acting intent you want? And - gee, he sure is popular with kids - you may be running into tons of people singing his stuff.

A bit off the subject, but I thought if there were JRB fans out there you might like to hear a brand new song he has written for an upcoming production. He came to Elon University last week to teach it to Elon MTers to be part of a convocation that featured Hal Prince. It was the world premiere of "A Little More Homework". Here is the connection: http://www.elon.edu/e-net/Note.asp?id=928623#

Once you get to the site, scroll to the botton of the page and click.

Have Fun.

Not addressing the question here...and maybe telling you all something you already know...but in case not: JRB's website is jasonrobertbrown.com (0.23072959782752211). Lots of music, his blog, upcoming performances and other appearances, etc. Enjoy!
