College counselor for MT

I have read through a lot of this forum but wanted to ask a specific question for a family friend who is a current junior. He is a male who has starred in many school and community theatre productions, made all states since freshman year, but hasn't ventured far out of our suburban community. Are there college counselors specifically focused on musical theatre? We live in Massachusetts and would love any suggestions for finding someone who could point him in the right direction in terms of college search and admission.

I would suggest emailing poster SoozeVT. She is an excellent college counselor who is based in New England and has many Theatre and Musical Theatre clients.

If you left click on her member name on one of her posts a pull down menu will appear and you can choose the option to send her an email.

I think TomBFA coach is a poster here who coaches kids for auditions... possibly CoachC as well?

There are also some college audition coaches who post on this board (or whom members on this board have used). I think one group is called Musical Theatre College Auditions, and the website is MTcollegeauditions. I believe that there are posters here who have used their services.

Good luck!

You're right that I coach, Kat - Musical Theatre College Auditions is the Coaching Team which I founded and head. Several of my students have used SoozieVT's services and rave about her. She is a wealth of knowledge about everything admissions related, which dovetails wonderfully with what do as coaches.

I'm also a medical voice therapist, which is what I post primarily about here.

I am a professional college counselor specializing in Performing Arts/Music/Theater/Musical theater students.

There is so much more entailed in this unique application/audition process to create a good fit list of programs and to stay on track with support and guidance during the junior/senior year.

Feel free to PM me.
