The three number code is the college major a student expressed interest in when he or she took the PSAT.

The codes can be found on page 15 of this PDF file from the College Board.

Joseph41373, the Clear Creek ISD story says that kids had to score a 219 to become a semifinalist. I wonder if that is an error?

214 and higher gets you semifinalist status in PA; just called and asked. Sweet.

Help!
I phoned the National Merit Corporation yesterday and they confirmed that my daughter is an international NMSF qualifier with 222. I informed her school today and they are claiming that they have not received any correspondence from the National Merit Corporation. Time is ticking away. How can I get the details required for my daughter to proceed with her application? Her school aren't really interested. There is at least one other qualifier and I emailed her mom today.

^^
expatlondon,

You're going to need to call NMSC again and ask them to provide your daughter with an access code and temporary password to enter her information on the online web site.

Web Site: https://osa.nationalmerit.org

At some point, the school administration needs to engage in the process because they are required to do a few things to help your daughter advance from semifinalist to finalist. You should ask NMSQ for advice on how to handle a situation where the administrators are unresponsive to requests for assistance.
