I got national merit semifinalist. I completed the finalist application. My score was a 229, so I think I'll be good. I'm applying to alot of Texas Schools. Really would like to get a scholarship to Texas A&M college station or UT Austin. I actually NEED a scholarship, or I'll need to go to CC. How should I list national merit on my apps so that either of these colleges are most like to offer me something. I don't want to just put "national merit semifinalist" because then they'll think I'm not a finalist when I likely will be. Where do I even list national merit? Under awards? I'm doing applytexas btw. Also, once I apply, how will I know if the college is offering me anything? Will it come in the mail? With my acceptance letter? Whats the deal? How do I use national merit to get some money for college. I need it badly.

The colleges will have a list of semi-finalists and they will send you mail. I think A&M offered travel money to my daughter for her to visit. UT Dallas also sends mailings. You might make sure that you list A&M as your top choice on the NM form.

List National Merit Semifinalist under academic honors. Good luck.

When you do the scholarship section (it can be submitted after your application), it asks if you are a Semifinalist, Commended, or None.

For A&M, I'm sure you'll get at least $12,000+$4,000 (President's Endowed Scholarship + Opportunity Award).

I don't know about UT (only applied to A&M).
