Commissioning attire

Does anyone know how strict the enforcement of "business suit" attire is for the commencement at the stadium? A relative coming does not own a suit and wondered if a nice pair of pants and sport coat will keep him out.

The event, unless one is a Mid, is virtually "anything goes." Many people dressed to the 9's ... and frying in a "normal" graduation day in May/June in Annapolis . And many in shorts and sport shirts. Wear a tie at your own risk. It's pretty relaxed and none enforciing any dress code.

It can be especially brutal for the parents who are given reserved seating ... in the sun! Take your sunscreen!

Your relative'll be fine if he feels compelled to wear a sport jacket. He'll be good with or without. Guaranteed.

When we went, people were in many things, but most were dressed very nicely. My husband did wear a suit but my now son in law wore a shirt and tie with no jacket. I was in a dress and my boys (who were 6 and 9 at the time) were in dress shorts and polo shirts. We all fit in well. It is a VERY long day and since you get there really really early to get your seat, I would suggest bringing a hand towel to wipe off dew on the chairs as well as a sweater or light jacket. But be able to take it off as it gets quite warm some days.
