Jack... don't get so excited. You have one semester to go and that is through the Dark Ages!

Heh, if I do go to USNA, I have a feeling the Dark Ages won't do anything to me. Being from Maine, we never get above freezing from Mid-November until Late-April, and during that time the sun only comes our fully a few times a week.

Simayan - you and plebes from AK will think it's spring during the Dark Ages!! (although I think the term "Dark" has more to do with length of time before another leave opportunity than length of daylight) Best of luck!

My son received his appointment on Christmas Eve... dated 12/14. He has an LOA and 2 nominations, one from Senator Specter and one from our Representative, Chaka Fattah. We're from Philadelphia.

I received my triple qualification news from my regional director. I also have an appoinment and my app in a month and a half before the deadline, 12/12. I sent in changes to my app, such as Certified Lifeguard, new college classes etc. And my area doesn't have many applicants. My regional director says I am likely material for an appointment. Just waiting...

Yayy!

Ha 2012mom?,

Our mid has never had a hard time with the Dark Ages! He has always come home for Christmas and endured the <3 hours of daylight (and occasionally slept through the entire daylight span of a day) and when he returns it seems very light to him!

Congrats every one!

yes, you are just waiting for the letter. it can take a couple of weeks for the paper to arrive in your mailbox. don't worry.

edited to add:
do you think you want to change your name? wannabe somehow doesn't seem to fit!

wait-now I'm concerned- I just got the letter from USNA saying that I am scholastically qualified, yet it is not an LOA ( as it said on the DoDMERB website). If I have everything else ( physical and medical qualification) plus a principal nomination, am I guaranteed acceptance? Or am I now in some sort of pool of qualified applicants for admission?

by law the academy is required to admit all principal nominees who are triple q'd.
